A location with an exceptionally high ceiling was required to exhibit a 2-meter-diameter tensegrity sphere. Therefore, we selected the foyer in front of the large lecture hall as the exhibition site. The suspension point was designed using a concrete beam located 6 meters above the floor, carefully considering how to hang the sphere and taking into account potential sway during an earthquake. The foyer is a space with heavy foot traffic. To prevent collisions with the exhibit, we created a small circular “karesansui” (dry landscape) rock garden at the base of the installation. This served to gently separate the visitors from the exhibit. On the first day of the exhibition, a gallery tour titled “Expansion and Integration in the Field of Architecture”was held, featuring discussions and a walkthrough of the displays presented by five research laboratories engaged in architectural and urban planning studies.
